That's a good observation and as you can probably imagine it isn't unique to Muslim men of North Africa, Egypt and the Middle East.

There is one thing:

If the person you are talking to works for the tourism industry or knows English or some other foreign language, I'd say they are better off than many in their nation.

Men and women should not enter into romantic relationships for the single purpose of "saving" someone or making their life better. That kind of action is a different kind of love, one of compassion with the understanding that you give to them no under false pretenses and don't expect anything in return.
