Need your advice

Hi Jenn,

I think your post is the only positive post I have read so far. I'm really confused, happy and scared. I went to this language learning site. I received this friend request from this Egyptian man who wanted to learn my language, I'm German but live in USA. We were skyping within a matter of a day and have and are still skyping every day anywhere from 1-4 hours a day for the last 3 weeks..

There were 253 female friends he had on that language site but he has not logged backed in since we started skyping, I checked but it made me a little suspicious. Within a few days he said he wanted to marry me, that he felt he has known me for years and felt very close to me. I feel very comfortable with him as well, he is a great listener, very understanding and seems to have great morals and values...Sex before marriage would be an absolute no for him, he tells me it would make him very happy if I converted to Islam, but that I need to make my own mind up about that. He works at a school, teaching teenagers art and gives private lessons in english (I've seen a picture and video of him in school and he tells me stories about his work), he skypes from home from what I can tell and lives with his mother who I hear sometimes in the background, who he says will move with his sister once he gets married. He's 35, I'm 50 (I look younger), he says he is a virgin, he doesn't drink or smoke, he lives a good pure life, he doesn't do wrong because life after death is very important to him, he seems very knowledgable about the Quran.

I asked him before it got serious if he didn't wish to have kids, but it didn't seem important to him, he said children are a great responsibility. He doesn't exhibit any signs of oppressive behavior, more the opposite, he says he likes how I think and overall seems very sincere. I only see him online on skpe when he is skpying with me, I don't know if he can still skype with others and make himself invisible while actively online. I don't know if I'm standing in my own way of my own happiness and fear that he is just too good to be true due to many past hurts from Western men, or if I am really being sca,med like so many others.
