I said it was rare to see this because in Iraq only 20% of the population is sunni and you RARELY see a family of Shia muslims and have one sunni, Usually muslim families follow the same "branch" of Islam, they take great pride in this , especially as a man who carries on the family name. I talk to many muslims and I have never seen this except in the case where one leaves the family because of a disagreement with beliefs. This is why I said its rare. And just in passing I asked my husband if this was common and he just looked at me oddly and said no. I ask him a lot of this that are discussed on here in general just to see and get an opinion of something that Im not 100% immersed in. And sometimes I will ask other muslims I know and I got the same answer for this one this time.
