To Gully on being together in same country

Yes, it is easier to be in the same country, or better yet the same city.

Culturally speaking, it can and does help, but the real deal is that you can at least interact with him in person.

There's a lot of warning signs that have been posted on here over the years, and if you are in a relationship with a foreigner, you've got to be wary of those VISA scams, and no one on here can tell you that just because there are no warning signs that does not necessarily mean what you have is real.

Some people are just really good at being deceitful and are comfortable in their skin lying through their teeth.

A man in his twenties here in USA just told me that his father married a Russian woman and once she got settled, she left him.

That is the risk that you take and a lot of people just feel it's worth it, partially because some states require you to be financially responsible for that person even for a time after they leave you.
