Is this argument really about Islam?

I disagree with many of the arguments against marrying a muslim man. People are confusing culture with religion. There will always be extreme believers in any religion. For example it is the practice in Judaism to marry a Jew! We see non Jews convert to be married all the time. The cultural practices of Saudia Arabia are extremely different from those of Morocco. Yet both of these countries believe in Islam. Please do not knock those who practice Islam because you need only look at Asia, India, Eastern Europe even parts of Western Europe like Italy and Greece to see that the role of women throughout the ages has still not changed. Thanks to testosterone mixed with alcohol or illness - women are bashed up, oppressed and abused by men in the west too. Liberation and law may protect the female sex but when it comes to relationships - women still cook and clean while the majority of men bring in the main income. There are few men willing to describe themselves as "whipped" ?? I have witnessed western men speak harsh to their wives when housework has not been done or the children have not been put to bed or the dinner is not on the table after a hard days work. This is a natural male practice as much as it is natural for a female to be emotional and hormonal. So please lets not confuse the nature of the male or female with religion. There is good and bad in every culture and good and bad in every religion. To brand one as being extreme is ignorant.

I am still a catholic and married to a muslim for 24 years. My husband is normal and behaves like most men! We believe in one God - the same God. The scriptures in the bible and koran may be conflicting according to the time but they deliver the same message.
