I partially agree with you. But you forget to mention the part where Allah says that it is okay to punish your wife if she doesn't obey her husband. to the point of physical violence until she complies to her husband's wishes. A Muslim life is a man's life I'm afraid and I too know the Islamic world quite well for a westerner.
