That Michelle quotation is ancient at this point and it was taken out of context to begin with.

To stay with your car analogy: the mechanic with 30 years of experience might be a better choice to fix an old car, but I wouldn't want him trying to apply his old construction ideas to a new car. John McCain is completely unaware how to fix our economy, how to balance our budget, how to make our cities safe and productive, how to make schools effective. He's stuck in the past, he wants to pretend that we are still in Regan's America, and we're not. We aren't the only superpower anymore, and if we continue to consume as we do and ignore the will of the rest of the world as we do then we're going to fall hard.

Obama is a brilliant politician who has surrounded himself with the brightest policy makers in every field. He is a president who will listen. He won't pretend like he knows everything about the welfare system, but he will stay knowledgeable, and continue to educate himself as there are new findings. McCain, on the other hand, uses the "maverick" title as an excuse for him simply going with his gut. He doesn't understand the issues nor does he cultivate an understanding of them. McCain is dangerous in the year 2008.
