The First Amendment to the Constitution provides for the separation of church and state and prohibits our government from endorsing any particular religion. The fact that numerous references to God are still made by our elected representatives, including an opening "prayer" before each Congressional session, demonstrates a blatant disregard for the First Amendment.

I don't hate your imaginary deity, as that would be as absurd as believing it exists, but I am disturbed that such primitive beliefs in supernatural beings still persist in the minds of the majority of human beings, along with such idiotic assumptions as 'God is on our side in this war' or 'God wants our football team to win this season.' And if you read your own Bible with any sense of objectivity you cannot but come to the conclusion that the Christian god who emerges from its pages is a malicious, sadistic, narcissistic bully whose primary concern is that his own creations grovel before him endlessly and who would, according to the Jesus myth, send his own son to be tortured to death for no other reason than that he, god almighty, demands that somebody suffer punishment. It is all quite twisted and sick, really, and I would hate to live in a world that actually was controlled by such a merciless tyrant.
