D. Redmonf, you write:

" Or could it be that the simple mathematical law of probabilities dictated that out of all those trillions and trillions of possible life sustaining environments there was a reasonable likelihood that life as we know it would spring up somewhere against all odds. "

But of course!

Why do you ASSUME I am a narrow-minded Christian creationist who believes only life on Earth exists?

I am almost certain that not just extraterrestrial life but that extraterrestrial CIVILIZATIONS exist! (Quite regardless of the question whether in the past they have, haven't, or do no want to contact us. Just like WE exist regardless of the fact that an ape colony in the jungle may feel our existence is, at best, hypothetical since we may not have presented ourselves to them! )

You also say: "for life to form somewhere, someplace, at some time with or without the direct intervention of a supernatural deity."

? - Excuse me !

As I tried to painstakingly explain, life cannot "form" - and evolve - of it own accord, out of the blue, by chance!

But only WITH the intervention of [Ok, let's include the redundant adjective: "Supernatural" ] Deity!

Whether "direct" or inderect intervention - we are too ignorant (and too junior in the life of the Universe) to know.

What we SHOULD know is that atheistic beliefs (mainly in moder times when we humans began thinking that a bit of mastery of technology makes us divine!) - that life appeared and evolved by its own accord - is unworthy even of our much backward and deficient race of "Homo Sapiens".
