I looked it up.

I looked it up, but as a free citizen, I see these as guidelines for civilians. It had to be written somewhere and decided by congress, so that there would not be 300 million versions about what to do. Still the practices are not consistent. Before all the flag waving to prove your patriotism, many civilians just stood when the National Anthem was played and the flag wasn't present.

Having been in the military, I know you can be disciplined for not following those rules.

You know, it always irks me, when presidents give or return a military salute. I don't know if that is right or not, however it is not a basis in evaluating their presidency.

If in theory, an ordinary citizen can run for president, then why is it that some are seeking the pure, sanctified and uber-patriot to be the president.
