Obama and the Muslims.

Reader comment on item: Confirmed: Barack Obama Practiced Islam

Mr. Pipes, ...

The information you have listed still doesn't give any credence as to whether Obama was Muslim as a child. As a kid, he wouldn't have had any choice as to where he went to church, just as my children didn't. Besides, he was living with his father at the time. He did what he was told.

When he was old enough to make choices, they didn't include Islam. Obama didn't hide from his Muslim background. He did write a book about his life ... twice! By the way, Jews, Muslims, Catholics, and Protestants/Christians all serve the God of Abraham one way or the other! All terrorists are not Muslims and all Muslims are not terrorists!

...If you could just write about some proven facts that aren't slightly embellished to include inuendo or personal surmisings, then I could read it with gusto. Give us something indisputable.

Blanket statements aren't good either. A quoted confession from Obama would be on point!

Daniel Pipes replies:

You miss the point. A child of a Muslim father is not asked his views on faith, is simply made a Muslim at birth. Period. End of story. Should he in later life, as in Obama's case, choose to change religion, that does not affect his having earlier been a Muslim.

Why is this simple point so difficult for so many to comprehend?
