How does it matter if he is Muslim, Hindu, or Zorastrian?

Reader comment on item: Confirmed: Barack Obama Practiced Islam

I find it extremely funny and scary at the same time, how the "Land of the Free" digs into somebody's personal life when he was a tiny tot to prove his roots and religiosity.

If anything, it only shows a certain meanness. So what if Obama is Muslim or Zorastrian? Maybe you guys don't see it from "inside", but to the rest of the world he is a greatest relevation, representing the Brave New Order with a sincerity and honesty that I have not seen in a politician - American or otherwise.

I live in a country which is 50% illiterate where there are deeply-driven schisms between the majority Hindu and the minority Muslim community that have happened over 1200 years. But I have not seen the kind of Islamophobia that I have seen amongst Americans which belies the principles on which America was supposed to have been formed and is supposed to be functioning today -- or as you would have the rest of the world believe.

It is about time American politics comes off age; away from rehearsed televised debates, speeches and promises in Churches, and vulgar spending on campaigns, to deal with real issues that plague your country like education, insurance, and wars (the art of staying out of it, that is).

Choose wisely!
