Israel isn't fighting for acceptance.Reader comment on item: Israel Shuns Victory Submitted by Ido Carmi (Israel), Mar 29, 2006 at 09:02 She's fighting for survival.The article stated: "Israel fights to win the acceptance of its neighbors." Acceptance is something that can only come from the Arabs. Considering that Israel was declared a state at a time when acceptance by her Arab neighbors was clearly not an option, I would argue that acceptance is one thing that Israel has consciously decided that she can forego.
