There is no way to win Arab/Palestinian hearts

Reader comment on item: Israel Shuns Victory

Submitted by Muriel Efron (United States), Mar 28, 2006 at 14:49

There is nothing Israel can do to appease the Palestinians, as long as the Arab countries are adamantly opposed to accepting the very existence of Israel. Just last Sunday in the NY Times, the travel section told readers they cannot enter most Arab countries if Israel is stamped on their passports - they gave them ways to get around that! I was appalled - they should be telling people how prejudiced these countries are, and why they should NOT go there.
Israel has to go it alone. They cannot win a war against a billion Arabs!

It infuriates me that we put the burden on that tiny country. How about pressure on all the Arabs on accepting Israel. How about publicity on how much Israel has accomplished, and how little the Arab countries have done in the same time - except try to destroy Israel!

Even the Dubai port deal - no-one commented on the fact that right on their web site under tourism - they blatantly announce "Nationals of 'Israel" may not enter the UAE."

Suppose they said no nationals of Canada or Mexico may enter. You can bet the U.S. would question that. The world just accepts the fact that the Arabs hate Israel. They accept it because there are so many Arabs, and we need their oil!
