Home ownershipReader comment on item: Israel Shuns Victory Submitted by yuval brandstetter MD (Israel), Apr 1, 2006 at 07:39 Typically, home ownership has everything to do with home improvement, whereas temporary tennancy has everything to do with the decrepitude of that home.So the Arabs never owned it. They conquered it from the Byzantine empire, which was the inheritor of the Roman empire, which as you know crucified Jesus and other Jews, including their State. Now to the present. The reason Israel shuns victory is because it is a pluralistic, justice-oriented, humane society, ruled by democratic process which allows even the Enemy to participate. It truely believes in compromise, as a principle of humane behaviour. It has serious difficulty in accepting unadulterted truth, which is that Arabs are none of the above. At some point the truth will filter in, and the self-imposed shackles will be removed, and the Arabs will find themselves back where they started, East of the Rift. That is where they were prior to the Conquest. The only question is how much blood will either side shed before this simple truth becomes apparent. The US and Europe, by holding Israel back, are prolonging the un-necessary conflict. So please, take those billions away, now, remove the outside influence, and let the chips fall where they may. Just to make the money issue clear. The aid was provided when Israel gave up two billion dollars a year of oil production in the Sinai Peninsula, sources Israel discovered and developed unaided. That is 1973 dollars. Add those up to the present day and see if Israel came out ahead in 1.5 billion of civillian aid in 2006 dollars.
