False example and overgeneralization

Of the dozens of books that I have read on WWII and the survivors in Germany that I have talked to, the average German citizen did not want war at all prior to the Polish invasion in 1939, let alone a majority of the Generals. Of course this all changed with the success after Poland, Norway and the Low Countries, but to make a blanket statement concerning millions of people is naive. Even a cursory reading of The Rise and Fall of The Third Reich will confirm this. ....
