Contrary to the usual Muslim view that the British favoured Israel - which is a subset of Grand Western Conspiracy againt Muslims- , Brits did no such thing. When the UN Mandate was over in 48, they dropped all business and just left. In fact, throughout the 30s and 40s, the British did all they could to prevent the influx of Jews into Palestine - Holocaust notwithstanding. They did not hand over power to anybody. By that time Zionists were well organised ideologically and politically, even though not militarily. If Ben Gurion had not declared the State of Israel in 1948, it may have never come into existence. The State of israel and the Israeli army was born in the heat of Arab-Israeli war of 1948. It was touch and go.

Why should Daniel Pipes and by extension Israel alone go for peace? Have you asked Arab and Muslim countries to recognise Israel first, starting with the Palestinians. How can Israel make 'peace' with someone who does not recognise it's existence. Does not make sense.
