"Contrary to the usual Muslim view that the British favoured Israel - which is a subset of Grand Western Conspiracy againt Muslims- , Brits did no such thing. When the UN Mandate was over in 48, they dropped all business and just left. In fact, throughout the 30s and 40s, the British did all they could to prevent the influx of Jews into Palestine - Holocaust notwithstanding. They did not hand over power to anybody. "

In fact, the British supplied legitimacy to Israel. That was their real contribution to the Jewish side. They need not have done anything more than that to earn the sobriquet that they favoured the Jews.

If they had left Palestine, without their partition plan, handing over governance to whoever was in charge from the local people, then only they could be said to have 'dropped all business and left."

British did the same duplicity in partitioning of India. Sixty down the line, the whole sub-continent is suffering for their perfidious conpiracy.

British should own their crime.
