Reader comment on item: Israel Shuns Victory
in response to reader comment: it's not really their 'home'

Submitted by Bill Haley (Canada), Mar 30, 2006 at 17:41

Huh ? All of a sudden "it's not their home" now ? What is this ? are you starting the old debate from scratch ?

Donald O, you remind me of Bader S ! (may be you are the same person : your argument "the USA vs. the Indians" gave you away..)
Whether you like it or not, Israel is here to stay. There isn't a people on the face of this earth that have more of a moral and legal claim to that land than the Jews (even your Q'uran says so).

The Arabs conquered the land in the 700's along with many other places, killing millions of people. But since then, thank god, there were "reconquistas". Many lands were reconquered back by their rightful owners. The French did it in two years. It took the Spanish 500 to 800 years. Well it took the Jews 1800 years ! Same principle. And if you think the Arabs are legally entiled to that land because they once conquered it, then by the same token the Jews are entitled to it since they reconquered it.

So you're wrong, boy! It's no utopia. The "residents of that little piece of land", the Jews, have a lot of faith in their destiny, to be lived in that land. That is their home, as it has always been. They'll defend it to the last drop of blood. The reason Israel shuns the kind of victory DP alludes to, is because it is a humaine society. It won't kill indiscriminately and disproportionately.

The victory DP talks about is between two warring enemis of approximately equal power. Let the Palestiniens have their state, grow their infrasture and their military machine. And if they are still intent on destroying Israel, then watch out ! You'll see what kind of crushing defeat it can inflict to them.

The Jews have been defenceless for so long. Now they can defend themselves.
