You have your view and I have mine. The negative and dismissive way in which you write about Indians, tells enough about yourself. You have not understood the distinction I have made from the beginning about the sainted woman herself, and the engineered image. Unfortunate that missionaries and their apologists wax eloquent about Mother Teresa at the drop of a hat, without the smallest compulsion to demonstrate an iota of the same deep compassion towards their hapless victims. These are heads to be harvested, nothing more. Don's is an extreme outsider view of Indians, without the least bit of credibility, so I will let the remark about protesting Indians pass! If he wishes to blindly cling to the White Man's Burden in this day and age, that's his problem, and he's welcome to it. Indians working among Indians hardly need his approval.

There have been many Hindu saints who have worked amongst the 'untouchables', including the killer dacoits. Baba Amte spent his lifetime amongs the lepers and his son and daughter-in-law carry on the work -- which began way before Mother Teresa was heard of -- Gandhi also did, and Don's ignorance about it has not prevented anyone of doing their bit. The source of this compassion was from within Hinduism itself. Buddha, Nanak, Kabir -- all of them offered their alternatives, into the present times, with a savant like Pandurang Shastri Athavle and so many others!...
