Akhtar, Muslims core belief is that prophet was a perfect human being who lived his life following Allah's day to day guidance in form of wahis, he was not a mistake prone sinner whose life must not be taken as a model, as you are implying, other wise Allah would not say in quran "obeying messenger is obeying Allah". If you believe quran is Allah's word then you have to believe that prophet was the perfect being and quran and sunna must be followed unchanged. You are saying that conditions are different now so we must reform . Whenever reform was needed Allah sent new messengers with new books . Allah said in quran that Mohammed (pbuh) is the last messenger . If he decided that no more reforms or messengers will be made till judgement day, then who are we to make changes or reform a religion whose rules are fixed for the last and fina time rby Allah and (by his authority) Mohammed (pbuh).

Mr Akhtar, Allah could have dropped a bounded copy of quran , if he wanted people to interpret it any way they wanted. To avoid the misinterpretations Allah sent prophet as a model to show a life lived in accordance with quran . What better interpretation you want then to study a life modeled in accordance with quran? Aya 33.21 says what I am trying to say.
