Goodness gracious. Tanakh is a joy to read, already.

Dear Dr Pipes, I had vaguely heard that Quran had some resemblence to the Old Testament. So I had assumed that the Jewish Bible might be as vague and as poorly written as the Quran.
On M Tovey's recommendation, I did an internet search. As the luck would have it, I stumbled upon Joshua 1-8.

What a relief. I was expecting that I will find some quranesque vague verses. But Joshua 1-8 was soft, clear, instructive and nice. I might be speaking too soon. You cannot judge a book by the first randomly picked verse that you read. But Joshua 1-8 was more clear and coherent than any verse of Quran that I have read.

The old idiom says, "once burnt twice shy". As I do with the Quran, I read several translations of Joshua 1-8. Even the bogus (as AVCR would phrase it) ones looked good. I will keep the group posted as I explore further.
