Dear readers: The meaning of this Sura is unclear. Yes, all of it is unclear.

Here is the verse:

إِنَّا أَعْطَيْنَاكَ الْكَوْثَرَ

This can be rendered as: Truly we have given you al-Kawthar

Notice that I left the word al-Kawthar untranslated because the word has no clear meaning. al-Qurtubi provides a list of 16 possibilities but he is not sure of the meaning of this strange word. Notice that non of al-mufasereen is honest enough to tell the readers that no one has a clue what this word really means.

Here is al-Qurtubi's Tafsir

https://quran.ksu.edu.sa/tafseer/qortobi/sura108-aya1.html

If we read al-Tabari's tafsir we find the following:

1. واختلف أهل التأويل في معنى الكوثر or and al-Mufasereen disagreed about the meaning of the word al-Kawthar
The reader might recall that if al-Tabari has this sentence in a tafsir, it really means that no one has a clue what al-Kawthar means.

2. As usual it did not stop al-Tabari from telling the reader that the meaning is a "white river" in paradise. Why would Allah give Muhammad a "White river" in paradise? Only Allahu A'lam. And where did he come up with this explanation? He does not tell the reader.

Here is Mr. Khattab's translation:

"Indeed we have granted you O prophet abundant goodness"

You will not find the following words in the verse: "granted, O prophet, abundant, goodness"

So he is making things up

Now, if you tap the Arabic text that he provides you will get the following translation:

"Indeed We Have Given You al-Kawthar"

He did not read the translation. I wonder why?

More disasters? Here is Saheeh International translation in the same page:

"Indeed We have granted you O Muhammad al-Kawthar."

So where did he get this "abundant goodness" from?

More? He provides a "Footnote" where he mentions: Heavenly river and and favors in both worlds!

Terrible translation

Stay tuned for more disasters
