Why buy oil at all

It would behoove the USA to forgo Arab oil entirely and devote the stimulus package to one purpose only: Energy independence. Complete changeover of all US automotive to Electric within 8 years. Buy out the gas guzzlers, all trucks to run on natural gas-hybrid electric, move freight to the railways, erect thousands and thousands of wind farms, and then abandon the Saudis and let Israel deal with its own enemies.
