Reader comment on item: Uncovering Early Islam
in response to reader comment: Re-Islamisation of Central Asia or the American harlot at work

Boys! Please give it a rest. While I appreciate the entertainment value of disputing such philosophical divergences, our energies on this site would be best employed in focusing on the topic and the larger looming issues. We can all agree to disagree and return to the task of discussing early Islam and its true origins. And, regardless of the sources, how the interpretations/co called contextualization of Islam have brought us to where we are today. And, the imperative to help people understand the realities and the differences of Islamic culture and why we are so arrogant to assume that everyone on this earth thinks like us.

See the commenter who just took offense when I tried to mention that. This is the greater problem. It is like the issue with the upcoming election (though neither of you are American). The election comes down to the independents. Approx 45 percent of the country will always vote republican and about the same will always vote democrat. Elections therefore turn on the decisions of the independent voters. My point is, there is no need to preach to the choir just as there is no benefit to getting through to those who have their minds firmly and ideologically made up. What matters are those remaining in the center who have not formed ideological stands and benefit from the education.
