Wickedness and Violence

Reader comment on item: What is Jihad?

Submitted by Susan Lesko (United States), Dec 31, 2002 at 19:17

Dear Daniel,

I just read your recent article that you sent today, "What is Jihad" and found it to be very interesting. I don't think too many people, other than the Muslims, and Jews, even know what the word 'Jihad' means, even tho' it's heard on the news almost daily. I for one didn't know either.

In your article, you point out * Palestinian Islamic Jihad: as the most vicious anti - Israel terrorist group of them all!

Just yesterday, reading The Bible Readers Companion by Lawrence O. Richards, his INSIGHT re: Wickedness and Violence. "These two words are used to characterize the sins that brought on the Genesis Flood. Wickedness is rasah', criminal acts committed against others that violate their rights and profit from others' pain. Violence is (hamas), willfully destructive acts intended to damage others. When any society is marked by continual expressions of wickedness and violence, that society is in peril of divine judgement."

Daniel, the word "hamas" is another word that isn't understood by many either. Perhaps you could write another article explaining ... What is Hamas.

Sincerely,

Susan Lesko
