Jihad is justified when attacked

Reader comment on item: What is Jihad?

Submitted by FS (Canada), Jul 22, 2004 at 03:51

First of all, not all those who say they are following Jihad really care about it. People like Saddam Hussein simply use the word to get more volunteers. It's quite stupid to take the words of such a man, a mass-murderer, seriuously. Second of all, Jihad in religious context mean only defense, including fighting all powers that use arms to stop Muslim missionaries. The other usage simply means defending Islamic lands, money and lives. Well, if the US attacked a Muslim, it certainly deserve to be resisted. What's wrong with that! Every people in the world fight when someone attack them. That's basic human nature.
