Just what we don't needReader comment on item: What is Jihad? Submitted by Dale Trabshaw (Australia), Apr 8, 2003 at 11:27 I disagree with your 'definitions' of Jihad . The origin of the word Jihad is from the Arabic word for 'striving'. We, the west have picked our definitions carefully when describing those words that can inflame and ultimately corrupt. What would you do if your nation was bullied, besieged and bent by US, Uk and EU wills and weaponery? Would you seek 'dominion over the entire globe' or would you simply strive? Realistically there's not much else that the Moslem world can do than strive.Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
