Quote - "How many Muslims believe in Jihad?"Reader comment on item: What is Jihad? Submitted by Smith (United Kingdom), Mar 25, 2004 at 08:01 Answer: All of them, by definition of their being Muslims. I am desperately trying not to scream obscenities at the narrow-minded people who think that Jihad is a means for Muslims to spread an Empire. Jihad is very much like wrestling with one's conscience. Just as this does not imply actually hurling people around a ring, so the 'striving' of jihad is not necessarily a war. It scares me to see the extent of xenophobia and racism that this discussion has made evident. Islamophobia went out with the Crusades; it must not be resurrected.Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
