You asked, "Where in history have you seen any instances where Muslims use this "pure" and non violent version of the jihad that you have described above?"

Let me think.

1. The Crusades, against a violently islamophobic Catholic Europe.

2. Suicide bombings in the Middle East against American-armed Israelis. To be honest, Al-Qur'an condemns suicide bombings, but when your enemy is being given the latest weaponry by the greatest military power in the world, any means of defending your homeland may seem attractive. Especially when that homeland was taken from you without your permission in 1948.

I don't know why the UN can't just make Jerusalem a neutral zone like Antarctica so that no-one can call it their own. Surely a site of such religious significance should be considered God's (or Yahweh's or Allah's) anyway. Territorial arguments are petty in the face of the Almighty, whatever name you may know Him by.
