A Challenge from the Koran

Reader comment on item: What is Jihad?

Submitted by Maryam (Canada), Dec 9, 2005 at 14:53

The Koran lays out a clear challenge to all its readers:

Say: ‘One thing I would ask you: stand up before God in pairs or singly and ponder whether your compatriot [Muhammad] is truly mad.' Surah 34:46 (Dawood translation)

Knowing that more than 3565 terrorist attacks have been carried out since 11th September 2005 in the name of Allah and Muhammad. [http://www.thereligionofpeace.com/]

Knowing that "jihad' has been used as the justification for all of these attacks by men shouting "Allahu Akbar"

Knowing the Islamic history of Muhammad's conquest in his lifetime

Reading daily of the horrific terrorist attacks, nearly all of them perpetrated by devout, Koran quoting, Koran believing Muslims

Knowing that the Koran says, "Killing is obligatory for you" - "kutib alaykum al-qitaal" - Surah 2:216

Having stood in the midst of a mob shouting "Allahhu Akbar! Kill them! Kill them!"

After I have pondered, I would say that definitely, the compatriot, Muhammad, was mad.
It is time for Muslims around the world...to ponder!
