It is true that the west has contributed to science and technology in the recent years but it is not fair to disregard achievement of Muslims in the world of science and technology and call them useless without the brain power of west. E.g. You mentioned about Wright brothers because that is what you have read. The first idea of flying came to an Arab Muslim called Ibn Abaas. He was the one who performed this experiment before anyone. He attached two big sized wings and tried to fly from a hill. No one knows about him but everyone knows about Wright brothers because the western media promotes their own scientists and inventions in their books and not talk about Islamic scientists.

You need to do a bit of more reading. Read about the Golden Period of Islam
