It's Time to Condemn All Religious Radicalism

Reader comment on item: [Pakistani Christians and] A War Against What?

Submitted by Gary Vineberg (United States), Oct 1, 2002 at 22:26

Perhaps the reason why President Bush hasn't targeted radical Islam as the source of terrorism is because he's afraid of offending the evangelical and fundamentalist Christians here who support him.

They are our own religious radicals.

The most shameful behaviour on the part of our politicans, I believe, has been the failure to condemn all forms of religious extremism, Muslim, Christian and Jewish (certainly a problem in Israel), and praise the fabulous secular order with which Jefferson, Madison and others blessed our country.

It is possibly the single most important factor explaining the rise of our American civilization.
