Good for you!
You are absolutely right. If Ms. Basarudin wants a virgin copy, she should buy a new copy of the Koran. I am a librarian and quite a few of our books are marked by patrons. This is not what we wish but it's part of the scene.
As you said, the timing is very suspect and I am very sorry that Amazon gave in. I hope they read your column and reconsider. The more we give in and apologize, the more they will ask for.
We are very grateful for people like you. I really think that you are of one of our best protection.
