How convenient...

Reader comment on item: Amazon.com's Koran Desecration Problem

Submitted by Evelyn (United States), May 21, 2005 at 17:44

Mr. Pipes,

Thank you for your newsletter re: the Koran incident. Here is my letter to Amazon.

Dear Ms. Smith:

Please do not succumb to pressure from Islamist groups. I find it highly suspicious that this alleged incident took place right after the Newsweek incident.

Also note the ties this individual, Azza Basarudin, may have to radical Islamic organizations and their agenda in this country.

Suspending Bellwether Books on such a tenuous evidence is also not necessary. I regularly buy books, used and new, from both Amazon and its independent distributors. At times I have found notes, etc. in used books. Some of these notes are not in my taste but I do not overreact to them.

This incident reminds me of the finger in the Wendy's chili. I hope Wendy's and the franchise owner can recover lost revenue from the perpetrators. Likewise, I hope that this alleged Koran incident could be proven false.

Somehow the timing is just too convenient.

Evelyn Thomassy
