Dear Patty,
I just read an article by Daniel Pipes -- "Amazon.com's Koran desecration problem" -- about a possible Koran desecration and demands from the Muslim Public Affairs Council that you take steps toward restitution -- in my opinion -- well beyond what one would reasonably expect considering it was a used Koran that came from Bellwether Books and was not new. You can look my e-mail address and account up. I've done, what is for me, a pretty hefty amount of business with Amazon over the years, with you and your used book sellers like Bellwether. I have been greatly satisfied.

I agree wholeheartedly with Mr. Pipes. Please do not allow yourself to be intimidated or extorted. A couple of concluding paragraphs I will include just below. He is right on target with this one. These groups make an industry of targeting individuals and businesses with threats. I remember, a few months back, radio commentator Paul Harvey bowed to CAIR, the Council on American Islamic Relation's demands, and apologized profusely for insulting Islam. Are we under shari'a law here in America or in a state of dhimmitude? Either you appease the Muslim community or else? This is no way to conduct one's private affairs or one's business under threat of extortion. I would suggest that you stand firm considering the circumstances.

Best Regards,
Steve Klein
