Reader comment on item: Amazon.com's Koran Desecration Problem

Submitted by Richard Ong (United States), May 22, 2005 at 22:25

Dear Ms. Smith:

I read of Amazon's reaction to the complaint of Azza Basarudin. There are many reasons to be skeptical of this person's claim and I think Muslims have no special claim to have their delicate sensibilities taken into account when Christians have to endure far worse descration of their sacred symbols.

If Amazon can't show some more backbone where these people are concerned, I can find plenty of other sellers from whom to buy the products I buy from Amazon.

Mr. Daniel Pipes's comments on your position are here: http://www.danielpipes.org/article/2634#comment.

Please also be so kind as to explain to me why this highly suspicious and minor incident should merit the characterization as "appalling." Why don't you show more skepticism in this matter?

Very truly yours,

Richard Ong
