Koran and Amazon

Reader comment on item: Amazon.com's Koran Desecration Problem

Submitted by Stephen Segal (Australia), May 20, 2005 at 20:22

I have bought a number of books from Amazon and been very happy with Amazon's service.

I think Amazon's response to what a second hand Koran is said to have in it is quite inappropriate and I agree entirely with Daniel Pipes, who said:

Amazon should answer MPAC firmly in the negative, reinstituting Bellwether's right to sell Korans at Amazon, making no public condemnations, and not giving money to MPAC. If you agree with this conclusion, let Patty Smith at Amazon (psmith@amazon.com) know your thoughts.

I think Amazon will hurt itself more to its general customer base by its inappropriate response.

I can't work out why a Muslim would by his/her holy Koran as a second hand book by mail from a non believer's company. Surely the holy Koran is available from Islamic sources and this would be a more expected source for such a product from a purchaser such as the one who made the complaint.
