Reader comment on item: Amazon.com's Koran Desecration Problem

Submitted by Howard Lucas (United States), May 21, 2005 at 19:52

Thank you Mr. Daniel Pipes, for an excellent review and comments on the events around the Amazon.com incident. I especially agree 110% with your closing comment: "Amazon should answer MPAC firmly in the negative, reinstituting Bellwether's right to sell Korans at Amazon, making no public condemnations, and not giving money to MPAC."

Of course... used books are USED. They often contain any sort of defacement, marking and problems. In the case of used books... it's always 'buyer beware.' Of course it's nice the book seller pays reasonable attention that a book is relatively complete and in fair condition.

I suspect the seller, Bellwether Books, would have had no problem promptly sending a replacement book, but Azza Basarudin obviously felt compelled to make a more public display with the self serving assistance of MPAC at the Islamic Center of Southern California.

I wish the muslims well, as long as they choose not to be our enemy. If anyone chooses to be our enemy... the it's the job of our warriors to make the matter "right". I don't care about the foolishness between believers and non-believers... about whether my god / or their god is bigger and better than any one elses. I do care, about self defense, and the rights of life, liberty and the persuit of happiness in our nation... being preserved for my children's children.

Thanks again for you informative
and thoughtful comments!
