Reader comment on item: Amazon.com's Koran Desecration Problem

Submitted by Bjorn Larsen (United States), May 20, 2005 at 11:28

My thoughts are contained in the e-mail below sent to P. Smith at Amazon.

Dear Ms Smith:

I deplore your public comments and actions regarding the recent sale of used books on amazon.com.

I believe that MPAC's agenda is one of keeping alive the fanatical response to the recent Newsweek story and thereby fostering more undeserved ill will towards the US.

Both your comments and actions (suspending your supplier) will merely serve to encourage MPAC and other radical groups to press on - the next attack against Amazon will most likely be a demand to cease carrying books that dare to criticise Islam in any way.

Ask yourself the question - would Amazon have reacted this way over a used Bible with "Death to all Christians"?

Thanks and have a good day.

Bjorn Larsen
