But then those who spread it were savages, whose culture was that way, this having happened quite very long ago. While the statement 'love thy neighbour like thou love thee" attributed to Jesus Christ reached places, and is often cited as a proof of the fact that Christianity is the first religion based on mercy, the statement made by Lord Buddha "Love your enemy more that you love yourself" centuries before Jesus Christ was even born, is not as much popular. This is because the Buddhists never resorted to the sword to propagate Buddhism. This is why Buddha still has not got the due recognition.
