Mr. Pipes column and many of these responses are full of insight. However, I think Anne Applebaum wrote a very interesting column for the Wash Post regarding Karen Hughes' appointment and what she should focus on. The West must be very careful not to react in ways that drive natural allies in the Muslim world away from us--while overlooking critical opportunities to counter radical poison.

Her allusion to post WWII Europe seems very apt. Here is the link:
