Reader comment on item: What Do Terrorists Want? [A Caliphate and Shari'a]

Submitted by Jon Smith (United States), Jul 26, 2005 at 15:49

My good man, Daniel, you say it is not clear what Islamist Jihadists expect to get from all of these senseless murders. I'm of the opinion that it is all about religious power, money, and lies. Lies cloaked in a mythological belief of rewards from Allah, to those who carry out these insane death missions.

Minds of young Islamists believers are vulnerable to cult like teachings, that, death for Allah is an honor of the highest order. Go forth and kill the infidels, saith, Mohammed.

Power over their brothers, and non-blievers should heed to this power, or they shall be killed, anywhere, anytime, as instructed in the writings of the great warrior Mohammed. It is Allah's will, that all non-believers shall be punished.

Why don't we see people like Bin Laden and his lieutenants strapping bombs on their backs and going into rail tunnels to blow up and kill people? Because they are addicted to power and money. Nor, do we see Imams and Mullahs sacrificing their lives for the cause, what ever it is, they still remain in power...
