Mr. Mohammed: I checked Bukhari , Muslim, Tabari vol 8 pges 116-124, Ishaq pgs 509-518 to read about Khayber raid. They are the only original chronicles of the event. Sorry to say your story did not check out.
Like Wallace said, victors exaggerate stories of their victories and I found some ridiculous exagerations in all the sources I quoted .

However it is common sense that pious believers would exaggerate the virtues of their heroes and prophets and hide or water down their faults.

Therefore there must be lot of truth in all the brutalities and attrocities of Mohammed described in hadiths and siras written by very pious muslim scholars and imams, but the ridiculous exagerations and miracles claimed are fabrications.

Unfortunately all we have are biased muslim sources of Mohammed's biography.

Mr Mohammed forgot to mention two very famous incidents of Khayber (Ref Sirat Rasul ullah by Ishaq, pgs 509-528) .
- When 60 year Mohammed came out after spending an eventful night with 17 year old Safia, widow of murdered Khayber chief Kinana, he found Ayub Ansari guarding the tent. He asked why was he guarding the tent all night. He replied "apostle of Allah, you killed Safia's husband, brothers and father yesterday and were sleeping with her last night. I was worried about your safety. Mohammed was happy to hear that and prayed for Ayub.

-Zainab, one of the captured woman from Khayber , who was made to cook for the jihadis, poisoned the meat. One of the Jihadi died from it. Mohammed ispit out the meat for it tasted different, but apparently ingested some of the poison. The woman was brought and asked about it. She said yes I tried to kill Mohammed because he raided Khayberand killed my husband and other relatives.
The woman was beheaded.
- It is said that Mohammed suffered from recurring pain from that poisoning and died within two years of that incident . His death is described as very painful and some chronicles say that it was the result of that poisoning at khayber.
