Historical Revisionism hides the truth

Reader comment on item: What Do Terrorists Want? [A Caliphate and Shari'a]

I am looking at this issue from more of an historical point of view. To me it is obvious that the purpose of the terrorism that we see today is the Islamisation of the world and the re-establishment of the Caliphate. The apologists for Islam are at pains to tell us that Islam is a peaceful religion and that there is no such plan for world domination. However, that flies in the face of the ramblings of the man who wrote the Koran. (I do not believe that the Koran was written by God).

The history of the movement of Islam from Arabia and onto the world scene is a history of violence. Mohammed encouraged conversion by the sword. It was a case of either convert or be killed. That explains to me why so many moderates wrongly believe that Islam is a religion of peace.

Other correspondents have pointed out sections of the Koran that indicate that the Islam apologists today speak with forked tongues when they claim that it is wrong in Islam to kill another. That only applies to a fellow Muslim, but not to those who are regarded as the Infidels.

I live in Australia and we were most affected by the Bali bombings. I have been thinking about "why Bali?". It is a teasing question unless one understands the truth, that the Balinese are Hindu and that according to the murdering thugs who detonated those bombs these Balinese deserved to die because they are no better than dogs. To the Muslim bombers responsible for the deaths in Bali, the lives of the Hindus and the westerners who died did not count because they were all Infidels.

When the Islamists attacked the Holy Land and overran Jerusalem, killing thousands of Jews at the same time, the Pope of the time felt that he had no alternative but to send an expedition to the Holy Land to take back what was sacred to both Christians and Jews. This was the beginning of the Holy Crusades. Even though everything that happened was not one hundred per cent good, the original motivation was to stop Islam from overthrowing the Holy Land. However, the twentieth century revisionists have painted a picture of the Crusades and the Crusaders that does not stack up to what really happened. This false picture has given the Islamofacists the opportunity to claim a victim status that they do not deserve. It is the same with the Spanish Inquisition. The purpose of the Spanish Inquisition, to stop the Moors taking over Spain, has been forgotten in the revisionist propaganda.

By clouding these issues, people are not able to see the threat that is posed by Islamofacism. Many non-Catholic Christians who rely upon revisionist history for their understanding of Church history criticize what they have not understood, and they are being mislead about the reason for these activities. The same is true of Catholics, especially the modernist Catholics who are bent on criticizing the Church from within. This revisionism has led them astray into thinking that the spread of Islam is a harmless activity. Nothing could be further from the truth.

If we took away the blinkers, and stripped history from the revisionists, then we might get a clearer understanding of what is happening around us today. So far, in Australia we have been isolated from the violence. Australians have lost their lives, or have been injured in these attacks but we have not suffered the terrible losses that have been suffered in London or in New York and Washington. That is why we need to learn from the past and we need to understand that the teachings of Mohammed were never benign.
