Fundamentalist Islam is intolerant of other religions

Reader comment on item: What Do Terrorists Want? [A Caliphate and Shari'a]

Submitted by Houshang. Yazdi (United States), Jul 26, 2005 at 21:23

I grew up among the Muslims. As a young boy in supposedely secular Iran, I witnessed blatant discrimination against the minorities in the society. This discrimination was done as a norm and with impunity because Islam dictates that only Muslims are true and exulted human beings . Islam is tolerant of other faiths so long as Islam is the dominant force. We lived among the so called tolerant Muslims as lesser individuals. We knew not to tangle with the authorities no matter how much we were dicriminated against. Somtimes we could buy justice; in other times we simply grinned and tolerated the injustices of the society....
