What do they want

Reader comment on item: What Do Terrorists Want? [A Caliphate and Shari'a]

Submitted by Donald W. Bales (United States), Jul 26, 2005 at 15:16

I remember "Mein Kampf." They didn't believe Hitler either.

I remember "The Communist Manifesto." Many didn't believe that the Communists wanted to take over the world. But they did want to and some fellow travelers (called "useful idiots" by Lenin) wanted them to do so.

I believe the radical Muslims. They dream of the return of the Golden Age of Islam when the Muslims controlled an empire greater than that of the Romans that stretched from the Indus to Pyrenees.

It must not be. They must be defeated. Unfortunately, a lot of them will have to be killed before they give up. It may take fifty years.
I hope it will be Tours again (although not in France) and Vienna again (although not in Europe).

The Caliphate was not benign in ancient days, but it would have had to have been extremely bad to come close to what some of the modern day radical Islamists have done to infidels and other Muslims.
