Surprising? Harrak's delusion is a commonplace in the Middle East

Reader comment on item: Deterring Tehran
in response to reader comment: to Harrak: not such an excellent answer

Hardly surprising that Harrak should filter out the excellent observations submitted by 'true believer'. I think the rest of us are surprised that the Iranians have discovered how to rub two sticks together to create fire let alone grapple with the borrowed technology that they have acquired from more civilised sources. All this fuss over Iran's nuclear ambitions is as much for their benefit as for ours - to ignore the situation would be akin to leaving a loaded pistol in the hands of a group of curious chimpanzees - as much a danger to themselves as to others.

In the final analysis, people are hardly falling over themselves to emigrate to Iran whereas Iran seems to export the little talent that it has to the West. Perhaps Harrak can help stem the burden that Iranian impotence places on the rest of the world and then, just maybe, the world will leave Iran alone. These backward states are a constant drain on our welfare and aid systems.

It's no coincidence that prior to the recent wars in Iraq & Afghanistan that the largest refugee populations to the UK came from these respective countries. WMD is just a pretext for us, Harrak. The truth is much harsher. We don't want you and your kind anywhere near us and the world would keep turning (a lot more pleasantly) if you had never existed in the first place.

However, your countries are such appalling messes that most of your populations are fleeing here and bringing their backwards superstitions with them. Has Iran (or her neighbours) made a lasting contribution of ANY kind to world civilisation in the past 400 years? Can you name just ONE idea or invention that has emerged from the Middle East in modern times to enlighten mankind? It seems that the only craft that the people of the Middle East have mastered is the implantation of homicide bombers on school buses.

Even the Palestinians would rather die than be absorbed in the populations of adjacent Arab states. Much more preferable to them to pray for a slice of the Israeli dream than the Arab/Persian one!
