Why bother??

Reader comment on item: Deterring Tehran

Submitted by fajensen (Sweden), May 24, 2006 at 12:03

In my opinion, Iran is finding itself in the same position as Hitlers germany: All brimming with the perfect ideology yet going bankrupt within a decade. The Iranian mullah's desparately *want* someone to attack them to divert the blame for the failure onto the usual boogeys: The West, Israel, The US.

In my opinion, it is neccessary to destroy not only Iran but especially the islamic supremacist ideology that drives them. In order to accomplish that, Iran and especially Islam must be allowed to fail utterly and irreversably exactly like Hitler's nazism did;

Therefore "the west" should do nothing - Iran will then be forced by time and circumstance to attack other muslims, the kurds, the turks, iraq, the saudis, just to stave off the collapse.

There will be no excuses left then, all the misery and destruction will be inflicted by muslims on other muslims. When the 20% of the population willing to die for the cause has indeed done so *then* there might be hope of avoiding the big conflict between Islam and the west.

Stoping Iran will just postpone the fight and increase the damage to both parties.
