Only Option: Attack Iran when you can

Reader comment on item: Deterring Tehran

I was reading many of the comments, arguments and counter arguments on how to deal with Iranian nuclear crisis. It reminded me of the Cuban missile crisis in the 60s when Kennedy's strong "come what may happen" stand made Khrushchev buckle within a week.

Allies sabotaged a heavy water plant in German held Norway during WW-II while Israelis bombed Iraqi nuclear reactor at Osirak. The holy cow status enjoyed by Iran even after the embassy hostage taking and backing up hezbollah, makes her think that she special. Sanctions would serve no purpose because it would be impossible to make Russia or China vote against Iran in the UN.

You cannot convince China not to buy Iranian oil any more than you can convince Russia that it is no longer a superpower and should not expect to be treated like one. It would just buy Iran more time and maybe more sympathy of the moslem world. Sanctions never prevented India or Pakistan from going nuclear. It is also futile to expect the present elected theocracy to be replaced overnight by a secular and liberal government. In mollah-land such governments tend to rule forever. Iran is just playing a mind game with the US and the rest of the world hoping that it would win.

Mollah countries like Iran lack the discipline necessary to win a conventional war, they hate more and fight less. Their infamous suicide squads cannot fight and win a prolonged war for them. Defeating a 5 lakh + army with a small navy and an air force of a few hundred jets and choppers is not that difficult. Decimate her IIGF ,khomenei's own fanatic troops, which also controls her missiles. Destroy her R&D Facilities, industrial infrastructure and anything and anyone that can contribute to her nuclear weapons program. Don't try to capture her leaders ( make them sit in their seats and enjoy the show ) or try to change the government or hold elections, don’t try to rebuild her roads and bridges. Control her ports and thereby her oil. About terrorist threats, flatten a stretch of mollah-land each time a terrorist attack occurs on home soil, just to make sure that no one celebrates.

It is just not enough to deter Iran, it is necessary to defeat her thoroughly, so that her leaders do not get the old "mahdi" itch again. Iranians must be forced to "realize" that it is not Jews or Christians but their own crazy mollah leaders like ahmednijad are responsible for screwing their happiness. It is a different thing to brainwash people and cheer when they crash planes into buildings in some distant land, but when warplanes and missiles blow their roofs away and enemy tanks come knocking at their doors, all their delusions of paradise will evaporate. An average moslem has more common sense than an average mollah and if given the option, would rather choose to live in peace. If fascist Germany and imperialist Japan could be defeated why not Islamist Iran ?

When the mollah used to ride the camel, he was bad enough. When he learned to fly planes, it was a disaster. If he gets to smart enough build and distribute nukes .....most of us won't be around to regret it.
